Parenting - Easier Said than Done

Parenting - Easier Said than Done

A parent is a person who is a caretaker of a child, and parenting is the activity done by the parents in bringing up the child. Parenting is different in each country, each state, each city, each village, and even each house. The myth of successful parenting is having children with good grades and successful careers. Still, in my opinion successful parenting is to make sure the child is happy. No matter what he/ she is doing, parents will be successful if they understand their child and focus on what interests their child has got and help them bring the best out of themselves.

Sometimes people, especially children, put on their happy faces and behave as if everything is in its place, but the slightest change or imbalance in the family does affect any normal child. Parents should try and avoid doing things that might mentally affect their children. Fights, arguments, judgments, humiliation are few factors everyone comes across and gets through but these are also the factors that they should not be dealing with inside the very safe space they call their home. House is a safe zone for any child to make it feel safer is a parent's true responsibility.

Parenting

There are 5 types of parenting Balanced, Uninvolved, Permissive, Strict and Overbearing. I would truly not be able to define which is the best one out of the five as each have their pros and cons, but no matter what type of parenting one choses never neglect the fact that the child needs you to be a friend a person to look up to no matter how hard or how bad things are.

One of the best-selling author, Mr. Robert Kiyosaki, has written in one of his famous books “In school we learn that mistakes are bad, and we are punished for making them. Yet if we look at the way humans are designed to learn, we learn by making mistakes. We learn to walk by falling down. If we never fell down we would never walk.

Parents also should try to encourage their children to learn from their mistakes and try to guide them in how to not repeat the same instead of punishing them for their mistakes/wrongdoings.

Parenting

A parent should try and make sure that they don’t demotivate their children from doing anything. Even if the child is not capable of doing a thing, a parent should never stop believing in their ward, because it does make a difference for a kid or a teenager. It’s okay to have the whole world standing against you except for the very people he/she calls a parent.

Encourage your child, appreciate your child’s efforts, celebrate even the smallest success of your child in your own way, make time for your child, have conversations about random things may it be for 5 minutes or 5 hours make the time for your kid because your child is never going to stop needing you. Communication with your child should be the topmost priority.

Talk to your children about your problems they deserve to know if you’re sad because they always know when you’re happy. Be a family protecting each other but by keeping your problems to yourself and teaching your child to keep their problems to themselves. Communication, Being honest and an open book is a key to true happiness.

Being a good parent and bearing a successful parenting skill is not difficult unless you are ready to change for good and do what’s actually good for your child. The first step to that would be accepting your child for what he/ she is. All the best.
